About Puppet Adventure: Puppet Comedy
Calling all jokester kids and Muppet fans! February Puppet Adventure is all about making and performing with moving-mouth sock puppets and the art of comedy — perfect for fans of the Muppets, Adam Kreutinger (aka Puppet Nerd on Youtube!), and any kid who wants to explore creating characters and cracking jokes.
Each morning, kids will work on crafting their very own moving-mouth sock puppets and explore bringing them to life by developing characters, recreating skits, and practicing comedic timing. Afternoons will feature free time to play with their creations and the opportunity to use other puppets in a range of styles. During the week, kids will also attend Jeghetto’s Workshop: A Marionette Variety Show, a show full of inspiring puppets made primarily from cardboard.
Whether your child loves cracking jokes, creating characters, or simply having fun, this is the perfect vacation week adventure to spark their creativity and imagination.
And, the week wraps up with a short performance for families — guaranteed to be laugh-out-loud hilarious!
About Puppet Adventure Program
This full-day program includes mini-performances by the instructor, group games, outdoor play, courtyard lunch and snack breaks, and daily creative challenges. Each week will take a deep dive into one style of puppetry — past programs have explored marionettes, to hand puppets, to shadow puppets, and more — while offering a taste of other puppetry styles. Kids will learn techniques for for sewing, cutting, and gluing while making their own puppets. Kids will chart their discoveries throughout the week, and the program culminates in a short performance for families on Friday afternoon!
This program is a great way to spend vacation week in a fun, friendly, creative, and supportive environment.
Junior Puppet Counselors
Do you enjoy making things out of everyday objects? Cheering on your friends when they face a challenge? Designing the latest yarn hair style? Junior Puppet Counselors serve as role models for younger puppeteers, assist our teaching artist with the art of puppet making, and learn and practice leadership skills in helping manage the flow of a creative space!
Open to young people in 7th to 9th grades. Junior Puppet Counselors are by application only; please complete the application form to be considered.
